This week, we’ve got quite the spectacle! Marz and Arianna team up to double rock a Bat Mitzvah at the DoubleTree, Skokie. We pulled out ALL the stops for this one – LED Uplighting, LED Dance Stages, a live drummer, and of course, the all-star Charizma crew! This week, Marz and the crew travel to Victoria Banquets Rosemont for a very special ‘Charizma first’ wedding – for a geologist! Needless to say, this wedding ROCKED… Get it? Rocked? … Anyways, this couple wanted to do something special for their special day so they decided to come by and take a few dance lessons with Marz, and on their wedding day, we brought out our Dancing on the Clouds fog machine and really made the dance floor a magical place to be. Marz was out on the floor dancing his face off and made sure everyone was having a blast! ROCK and roll! … Another geologist pun …
Charizma had the distinct pleasure of traveling to the Buckeye State to rock out a wedding at the Athletic Club of Columbus! According to the rest of the country, Ohio as a state has the most pride out of any state in the US, so naturally, the party was a huge success. When Ohioan’s gather on the dance floor, there’s just no stopping them. It was really great to bring the Chicago flavor to Columbus. As you’ll see in the video, Marz was out there on the dance floor with everybody to make sure the energy was constantly at a 10. The music was groovy, the smiles were infectious, and we brought our brand of spontaneous perfection across state lines (totally legal by the way). Would we go there again? You bet your buckeyes we would.
Charizma Entertainment is back again at Beau Jolie, but this time in the Chocolate Room for Ashley and PJ’s wedding! The room was absolutely stunning, the guests were all excited and the energy was electric. When we met with the couple before the wedding they were very specific about wanting to create an authentic, soulful vibe for their friends and family because they were both so into music. We knew a fun blend of soul and rock would be the key to victory for everyone at the event. For any DJ / MC the challenge is always to make sure everyone’s musical taste is being accommodated, and when Ashley and PJ said “Marz gets us… Charizma knows what a wedding needs to be, they feel the vibe and really make sure the clientele knows whats going on” … We knew we nailed it. We have always been believers of ‘Spontaneous Perfection’ – that feeling of living in the moment and making sure its absolutely perfect, which is why we work so hard to make it a reality for our clients. When we are able to look around a room and see 10 year olds, 30 year olds and 70 year olds all dancing with huge smiles on their faces, we know we’ve spread the message correctly. It is this notion that keeps us going, and keeps people coming back. We wish Ashley and PJ all the best – the wedding was a knockout and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store. The time has come once again for Charizma and Resurrection High School to team up for our 3rd annual Jr. Prom! We’ll be loading up the truck with photo booths, uplights and tons of DJ gear to make this party even more amazing than last year! If you haven’t checked out the video yet, make sure you give it a watch!
Every year before party time, we head over to Resurrection High to meet with all the girls to talk about music. Because this is an all girls Catholic school, we always want to make sure that the party (and music) are within the bounds of the administration and the values that they hold. We make sure the music they are asking us to play is appropriate and ‘radio friendly’. Asking the girls to help us create playlists is a great way to get everyone involved so it feels like their party as much as it is ours. Since school parties generally rely ONLY on music selection, it must be perfect.
We are truly honored to be doing this event for the 3rd year in a row – we always have a great time with these kids, and it’s good to know they have a great time, too. Victoria in the Park is a beautiful venue, big enough for everyone to dance freely, but intimate enough to create just the right mood. Last year was a great year for dance music and we are super excited to have a blast this year!
This week, you’ll get an inside glimpse on what goes into a traditional Thai wedding. Marz and the Charizma crew traveled to Victoria’s Beau Jolie Grand Ballroom for Josh and Wisa’s special day. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful – the guests were all smiles and taking tons of pictures as rings were exchanged, followed by a traditional Thai water ceremony. If you don’t know about the water ceremony, in Thai culture its technically the most important part of the wedding. This is the time where the couple actually becomes husband and wife. Each of the elder guests approach the water pouring table and offer kind words as they pour holy water from a conch shell over the bride and groom’s hands.
From there, the celebration was moved into the Grand Ballroom where friends and family were treated to traditional Thai dancing, incredible food, and of course, a night to remember. For this wedding, Charizma provided uplighting for the room, a photo booth for guests to have fun, DJ entertainment, and a custom monogram written in Thai that was shined on the dance floor. We played traditional Thai music as everyone danced and smiled, then had some fun with the American classics to finish off the night. Josh and Wisa were ecstatic!
This was Charizma’s first traditional Thai wedding and it was an absolute blast. We love learning about and engaging in new cultural experiences and really getting a feel for how it all works. We pride ourselves on our ability to keep with tradition but still make it fun for everyone. We truly hope that we will get to experience another Thai wedding in the future!
One of the coolest things about being in the event and entertainment business is no two events are ever the same. In essence, a mitzvah is a mitzvah and a wedding is a wedding, but each party has its own unique personality and character that is never duplicated. In addition, each group of people we have the pleasure of interacting with have their own set of traditions and ways of doing things that are special to them and very special to us. The Charizma crew had the pleasure of traveling to the Crowne Plaza Chicago Northbrook for a quinceanera, and it was nothing short of amazing. The room was electric, and everyone had smiles on their faces as traditional dancing and music happened all around. For this event, we provided a custom monogram for the dance floor, beautiful drapery around the room, incredible uplighting and of course DJ entertainment. As you’ll see in the video above, uplighting is a great way to really make your room come alive and interact with the music. When its a slow song, the lights scroll through colors slowly and completely change the feeling of the room, and when it’s everyones favorite dance song, the room explodes with vibrant colors and turns the energy all the way up.

Marz and the Charizma crew headed out to Ivanhoe Country Club in Mundelein for Hailey Kanters Bat Mitzvah! This was the 2nd party Charizma has done for the Kanter family and it was an absolute blast. Seeing the same faces of friends and family again years later is always a great feeling when joining a family for a special celebration. We started off the night with a little cocktail hour trivia to see how well Hailey’s friends knew her, then we moved it into the main room where we had the music pumping and the uplights shining. We’re not trying to sell you on an uplighting package, but it REALLY does make a huge difference. Having the ability to transform the mood and color of a room with a single click is truly something that will make your event that much more memorable.
For this event, a lot of the friends and family that came from out of town were from the Southern parts of the US so our music choices definitely had to be on point. We played a lot of country favorites and everyone had a great time singing and dancing along – there’s nothing a country crowd likes more than singing, thats for sure! The kids and adults were all super fun – we would do parties with the Kanter family over and over and over again.

Arianna and the Charizma crew headed out to Micky Finn’s to rock a super sports party and had a blast! The cool thing about doing sports themed parties is it allows all your guests to really rep their team with pride (whether its a Chicago team or not!) Of course, the room was filled with Blackhawks and Bulls jerseys – it was quite a site to see! The Charizma crew was decked out in referee jerseys to add that little spice of flair to the vibe of the party.
